SEPTEMBER NEWS 2012

WELCOME TO THE 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR!
All of the faculty and staff welcome our Annunciata School Families back for another great academic and spiritual year. In addition to our PK to 8 classroom programs we are proud to maintain music, art, computers, P.E. and Catapult (Title I). This year we welcome Mr. Ciombor, our new music teacher.  Very soon our Keyboard and Band programs will also resume. In fact, band recruitment will be on September 4th and 5th.  Parents can sign their children up for band on Thursday, September 6th from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the school.  As you can see, we have a full staff that will provide a complete and well-rounded curriculum for our students from PK through grade 8.

During the summer the Smart Board (room 107) and the 3 Smart Projectors (grade 1, grade 3, grade 7) were installed.  In addition, homeroom teachers were provided with a laptop.  Grades K, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 were also provided with a projector for Power Point or DVD presentations.  This technology was made available by all the hard work of the Annunciata Parent Development Committee and EVERYONE that helped to sell tickets, get ads and donations and generally work to make the fundraiser the tremendous success that it was.  It takes a community to maintain a school.  You are doing a great job of keeping us up-to-date and on the road to becoming 21st century leaders.  We are grateful for all you do for the children of Annunciata School.

Throughout this year our school staff will be in-serviced on these technological advances so we can use these tools to enhance the curriculum and our communication with you.  If you go to the Annunciata website at annunciataonline.com and click on the school page you will be able to contact each homeroom teacher and the principal by clicking of our names.

HANDBOOK
The Annunciata Handbook was updated and is available on the teachers; and principal’s websites.  Look on the left side under the photo and click on Form and Documents.  Please read through it carefully as it contains the school policies and procedures.  Details of the Uniform, Discipline and other pertinent information are included and should be read.

UNIT MASSES
Unit Mass will begin Thursday, September 6th.  The schedule will be the same each week:  grades 2, 3, 4, 5—Thursdays; grades 6, 7, 8—Fridays. The children should go directly to church at 7:50 a.m. Their teachers will meet them there. When there is an all school mass scheduled, no unit masses will be attended that week.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
SAVE THE DATE! Thursday, September 6th at 7:00 p.m. the Family and School Association and the School will host a “Back to School Night”.  Come out to meet your child’s teachers, see the school and ask questions!  We look forward to seeing you!
